Coal Miner's Ball

The Coal Miner's Ball is an annual event that honors the old-timers who worked or provided goods and services for the coal mines in Sutton and Chickaloon. Members of the Alpine Historical Park will conduct interviews and each year new honorees are inducted into the Old Timer’s Hall of Fame and their photo and biography are added to the permanent display at the Alpine Historical Park.

The Alpine Historical Park will be doing our annual fundraising raffle and silent auction to be held at the Coal Miner’s Ball Saturday, last Saturday in April at the Alpine Inn in Sutton. This celebration, in conjunction with the non-profit Coal Miner’s Ball Committee, includes dinner, music, entertainment and celebration of past and present Coal Miner’s Hall of Fame inductees.  Proceeds from this raffle and silent auction will be used for our ongoing projects for the historical preservation and improvements of the park facilities.

Sutton Community Picnic

The Alpine Historical Park hosts an annual community picnic at the Alpine Historical Park in Sutton. Old Timers and community members gather at the park to enjoy the warm summer days, the park, and community friendships. AHS will provide the hamburgers, hotdogs, condiments and juice. We ask everyone else to bring a potluck dish, chips, or dessert. There will be a dessert and silent auction as well. For your listening enjoyment, live music!

49th State Street Rodders Valley Show and Shine

The Alpine Historical Society in conjunction with the 49th State Street Rodders hosts The Valley Show and Shine Car Show. This is a family friendly event designed to celebrate the summer and check out or show off some very cool cars. Prized include but are not limited to Best Classic, Best Sports Car and Trashy Car! The public is invited to enter their "Trashy Vehicle" and compete for a prize against the 49th State Street Rodders. This is an annual fundraiser. There will be burgers and snacks, spilt the pot and an auction!

History and Cultural Tour

A student history and cultural tour of the park is a wonderful way to encourage students to appreciate the culture and history of our area.
The Alpine Historical Park is available FREE for school groups to tour the facility by appointment during summer open hours (Memorial Day - Labor Day) or potentially in mid to late May. If possible, an Alpine Historical Society Board member will meet the group at the park and discuss the facility and its exhibits.
